11/06(Wed.) Lecture: On Becoming a Protector: 13 Reasons why and Suicide Prevention


Do you feel overwhelmed when you see a child crying in the room alone?

Do you feel panicked when you’re unable to reach your student for a week?


Through the TV series “13 Reasons Why”, this lecture is to help you understand how to recognize suicidal warning signs and how to give these people a hand.

Let’s go through the difficulties in life together!


Premise of 13 Reasons Why

Seventeen-year-old Clay Jensen returns home from school one day to find a mysterious box on his porch. Inside he discovers thirteen cassette tapes recorded by Hannah Baker, his deceased classmate who killed herself two weeks earlier. On the tapes, Hannah unfolds an intensely emotional audio diary, detailing thirteen reasons why she decided to end her life. The secrets of Hannah’s death hence gradually come to light.                 –from Wikipedia
